The Cressida cressida, also known as the clearwing swallowtail or big greasy, is a striking Troidine swallowtail butterfly that can be found in northern Australia, New Guinea, Maluku, and Timor. This unique species belongs to the monotypic genus Cressida. Interestingly, it is not closely related to other Asian swallowtails, but rather shares a surprising common ancestry with the distinct South American swallowtails of the Euryades genus. This butterfly's evolutionary lineage adds to its allure and makes it a fascinating subject of study in the world of entomology.
